The APFA PAC gets our voice heard
U.S. House Representatives and Senators in Congress must be informed on the issues that matter to APFA members in order to advocate for us. The APFA PAC enables our Government Affairs Representatives to speak directly to members of Congress, not just their staff, about how APFA members are or could be impacted by decisions made on Capitol Hill. See below for some frequently asked questions about our PAC.
How does the APFA PAC give APFA a stronger voice in Washington?
APFA Government Affairs Representatives get additional access to members of Congress through their campaign fundraising events. APFA has an equal opportunity to talk with new candidates and current members of Congress, alerting them to APFA’s positions on issues such as evacuation regulations, FAA minimum crew requirements, toxic fume events, disruptive passengers, turbulence, radiation, FMLA, and many other aviation safety issues. The larger the PAC, the more education APFA can provide Congress. APFA has faced and will continue to face many issues that require a stronger presence in Washington, D.C. Your voluntary donations to PAC help to ensure that our 28,000 members have direct voice and a seat at the table with those we send to Washington.

What is a PAC?
Short for Political Action Committee, a PAC is essentially a separate bank account to collect money that can be contributed to political election and re-election campaigns. The amount that can be contributed to each campaign is strictly regulated by law and the Federal Election Commission (FEC).
Why is it important for Flight Attendants to contribute to the APFA PAC?
Corporations and their executives have the ability to spend large amounts on candidates in elections. You can bet that companies giving high-dollar contributions can meet with members of Congress anytime they have an issue of concern. Most of us individually don’t have the money to donate the way a large corporation can. But by joining together through our PAC, our small contributions add up and have an impactful voice that will be heard at election time and beyond.

How do you determine which candidates will receive APFA PAC contributions?
Campaign contributions are made based on the issues that affect American Airlines Flight Attendants. Our focus is the workplace. For example, those who voted to protect our jobs and healthcare through the Payroll Support Program are members of Congress that APFA would like to help re-elect to Congress. Our PAC is bipartisan.
Are Union dues ever used?
No. Dues are never used to contribute to any candidate. Only voluntary contributions donated to the APFA PAC are used for political purposes.
How can Flight Attendants contribute to the APFA PAC?
The easiest way to begin a contribution is on the PAC form below. You can also modify your contribution amount using the same form.
How much should I contribute?
There is no minimum amount and you can start/stop at any time. By committing as little as $1 or $5 or $10 via payroll deduction, you bolster our Union’s ability to win legislative fights. As a 28,000-member strong organization, just $1 adds up quickly and sustains our collective strength on Capitol Hill. The power of the APFA PAC depends on us.
