Purser Flexibility Test
Purser Flexibility Test Letter
1. INCREASED TTOT FLEXIBILITY
A. WHEN TRADING FOR A PURSER SEQUENCE. IF A TTOT IS DENIED DUE TO "RED LIGHT" ISSUES, CREW SCHEDULE HAS BEEN GRANTED THE AUTHORITY TO OVERRIDE THE LIGHTS TO PERMIT TTOTS THAT OTHERWISE MEET ALL OTHER CONTRACTUAL GUIDELINES AND LEGALITIES AND DOES NOT NEGATIVELY IMPACT DAILY MANNING.
B. TTOT BUFFER INCREASED FROM ONE TO TWO HOURS WHEN THE TRIP BEING DROPPED IS HIGHER TIME THAN TRIP BEING PICKED UP. THIS APPLIES TO ALL F/AS ATTEMPTING ANY TTOT.
2. VOLUNTEER PURSER INDICATOR
A. "V" INDICATOR CAN NOW BE TURNED ON AND OFF WITHIN THE SAME MONTH. TO SET THE INDICATOR HIVOLP/MONTH/S; TO UNSET THE INDICATOR HIVOLP/MONTH/U.
B. PVDS ARE RARE BECAUSE CREW SCHEDULE WILL ONLY GRANT THEM TO A PURSER IF THERE IS ANOTHER PURSER ON THE SAME TRIP WHO HAS THE "V" INDICATOR TURNED ON. GRANTING PURSERS THE ABILITY TO TURN THE INDICATOR ON AND OFF ALLOWS PURSERS TO MAKE THEIR PREFERENCES "HEARD" FOR PURPOSES OF MOVE-UPS AND PVDS ON A TRIP BY TRIP BASIS.
C. ORDER OF OPEN TIME COVERAGE FOR OPEN PURSER POSITIONS WILL BE CHANGED AND VOLUNTEER PURSERS WILL BE "MOVED UP" PRIOR TO STARTING MAKE-UP.
3. PURSER PICK UP OPTION
. PURSERS WILL HAVE THE OPTION OF PICKING UP OPEN NEXT DAY PURSER POSITIONS DURING THE COURSE OF OPEN TIME COVERAGE BEFORE THE 1600 MAKE-UP UNDER THE FOLLOWING GUIDELINES:
– ON A STRICTLY VOLUNTARY BASIS.
– UTILIZE THE N4(I OR D)/BASE//DATE ENTRY TO RESEARCH OPEN TRIPS AS WELL AS THOSE CURRENTLY ASSIGNED TO F/AS ON THE SICK LIST FOR THE FOLLOWING DAY
– REQUEST SPECIFIC ASSIGNMENTS VIA HISEND MESSAGE: BOS-D 202, DCA-D 203, DFW-D 204, LAX-D 205, LGA-D 206, MIA-D 207, ORD-D 208, SFO-D 209, SLT-D 210
– BOS-I 211, DCA-I 213, IDF-I 214, IMA-I 215, IOR-I 216, JFK-I 217, LAX-I 218, RDU-I 219, SFO-I 220
– IF AWARDED ANY SEQUENCE ON THE HISEND MESSAGE, PURSER IS OBLIGATED TO FLY; USE AVRS OR HI1 TO CONFIRM.
4. PURSER BID DENIALS
. FOR THE MONTHS OF MAY, JUNE AND JULY, A VERY LIMITED NUMBER OF NON-IFS AND NON-AIFS TRIP SELECTIONS AT IDF AND IMA WILL BE ALLOWED TO REMAIN UNBID AND THE TRIPS WILL DROP INTO OPEN TIME FOR COVERAGE. THIS PORTION OF THE TEST WILL BE REVIEWED AT THE END OF 90 DAYS TO DETERMINE IF IT SHOULD BE EXTENDED AND/OR EXPANDED.
5. PURSER RE-ASSIGNMENTS
. CREW SCHEDULE WILL NOT REASSIGN A PURSER TO AN OPEN PURSER POSITION ON A TRIP THAT IS NOT DESIGNATED AS IFS, AFS OR AIFS. (CREW SCHEDULE WILL, HOWEVER, MOVE-UP A VOLUNTEER OR NON-VOLUNTEER PURSER WITHIN THE CREW ON A PARTICULAR TRIP IN ORDER TO COVER THE OPEN POSITION.)
6. PURSER TRAINING
A. THE 100% BIDDING REQUIREMENT (LOCK-IN: TO KEEP THE QUALIFICATION IN THE FIRST YEAR) WILL BE SUSPENDED DURING THE PERIOD OF THE TEST.
B. AN EX-PURSER WHO TRAINED AFTER 1994 AND WHO WISHES TO RETURN TO THE POSITION WILL NOT BE REQUIRED TO ATTEND THE FULL TRAINING COURSE, BUT RATHER AN ABBREVIATED (TWO DAY) VERSION.
C. EX-PURSERS WHO RESIGNED (OR WHOSE QUALIFICATION LAPSED) AFTER JANUARY 1, 2004 WILL BE PERMITTED TO RETURN TO THE POSITION BY ATTENDING THE 2005 PURSER BUSINESS MEETINGS.
