APFA Hotline Update – Our Work in Washington, D.C. – March 22, 2013
TSA Knife Policy Update
This week, APFA and the Coalition of Flight Attendant Unions made tremendous progress in our fight to preempt TSA’s dangerous policy reversal to allow knives in the cabin.
Following a meeting between Laura Glading, members of the APFA legislative affairs team, and members of Chuck Schumer’s staff, Senators Schumer and Murkowski introduced an amendment in the Senate budget proposal that would prevent the TSA policy from going into effect. We thank them for their bipartisan leadership and their support. APFA is also working with the Coalition to encourage other members of the Senate to support the amendment.
The Coalition is also planning leafleting efforts for airports system-wide in the coming days. Stay tuned to this hotline for details and materials.
