No Knives Update: Democrats Pressure Pistole – Chairman Hudson Responds to Flight Attendants
April 9, 2013
APFA and other members of the Coalition of Flight Attendant Unions continue to apply pressure to Congress in an effort to preempt the TSA’s policy change regarding knives. Today, Democrats of the House Committee on Homeland Security issued strong statements regarding Administrator Pistole’s decision. Click here to read the full release with statements from Reps. Thompson, Richmond, and Swalwell.
Committee Democrats continue to press Administrator Pistole for answers and did so in a letter today . Coverage of the exchange, while limited mostly to Washington-area media, is helping to frame this week’s hearing.
Finally, Subcommittee Chairman Hudson responded today to our request to testify before his committee on April 11. While we do not agree with his position on knives, it is encouraging to know that the Chairman shares our outrage over the lack of stakeholder involvement in TSA’s decision-making process.
Although there will not be a flight attendant testifying in person this week, APFA President Laura Glading will be submitting testimony for the record. It will be made available on the APFA website shortly.
