Pure Bid Line Exceptions for February/March
With the elimination of the LBFO and the return of our former work rules as modified by the CLA, we once again have a provision for pure bids and pure bid exceptions. Pure bids can be built to 95.00 hours. An exception by the union is required for any pure bid that exceeds 95 hours. For February and March, pure-bid exceptions have been made at IDF, JFK, LAX-I and IMA, the specifics of which are below.
After the APFA Base Chairs representing these four bases evaluated the impact of the decision, APFA agreed to these exceptions in order to avoid the mixing of equipment (such as the 767 and 737 at IMA and the 777-200 and 777-300 at LAX-I) and the diluting of other desirable selections that would have been used as filler, for example three pure LHR selections that would have been used to fill NRT/FRA/ICN. Since the number of Flight Attendants required (manning) as well as the average utilization at each of the four bases remains the same, this exception will have no impact on manning.
These exceptions apply for two months and will be reviewed by the APFA Board of Directors at the annual convention in March. If you have specific concerns regarding the decision, please share them with your base leadership.
