Valet Checked Bags
The Company has informed both APFA and APA that they plan to implement the applicable contractual language regarding valet checked bags on May 11, 2015.
In accordance with Section 16.K.4. of the AA/APFA JCBA, Flight Attendants will be able to valet check bags when they are:
- Deadheading (including to/from training) in uniform and all overhead bins are full; or,
- Commuting in uniform, occupying a jumpseat and all overhead bins are full.
Valet checked bags shall be off-loaded before checked baggage and brought to the aircraft door upon arrival. Additionally, due to Customs regulations, bags will be valet checked only on domestic flights—including Hawaii, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

MRI, CT-Scans and Lab Work – [email protected]
Flight Attendants should verify that all MRI, CT Scans and lab work references are approved in-network facilities. To be certain, APFA recommends calling the provider/facility first in order to verify coverage and cost.

Makeup List – [email protected]
Did you know that a new list is pulled prior to every MU run? That means one list is pulled for the 12N MU HISEND round and another is pulled prior to the 1330 run. The list may be pulled at other times during the day prior to beginning any new round. That way, anyone who decides to add themselves during the course of the day is included in the next offering.
A new list is always pulled with the shift change in the morning and previous requests will no longer be used for day of trips. HISENDs are not considered for day of flying. Crew Schedule will call to offer and require first party contact.
Also, Flight Attendants who wish to be called in the 1330 round who submitted a HISEND request for the 12:00 noon round should include the following in a HISEND message: “Please call with others if unavailable.” Otherwise, you will only receive a trip if one of your HISEND-requested trips opens prior to 1700; and it will be considered confirmed once awarded.

IAM Withdraws Petition For Delta Flight Attendants
APFA was sorry to learn that, earlier this week, IAM announced it was withdrawing its petition to unionize the Delta Flight Attendants.
In January, the IAM filed for an election with the NMB and provided what it believed was 60% of the membership, or 12,000 signed cards. In a statement released on Monday, IAM said,
“… Unfortunately, we have recently discovered that a number of the cards submitted to us contain insufficient information or questionable signatures… However, rather than waiting months for a determination by the NMB, we believe the best course of action is to avoid further delay and withdraw our current application, renew our organizing drive and file again twelve months from the date of the dismissal of our application, as is permitted by law.
“We apologize to all of you for this delay but under the circumstances it is the only way to correct this unfortunate situation while continuing our drive to obtain the economic justice Flight Attendants deserve.”
