This is Cindy Horan, APFA National Ballot Chair, with the results of the jumpseat authority balloting which closed today at 10:00 am Central Time.
A total of 14,593 valid ballots were counted. 10,801 voted for First Come First Served, 3,347 voted for Seniority, and 442 voted for the hybrid option. Also, a total of three ballots were cast in which the voter did not make a selection.
Therefore, Jumpseats will be awarded on a First Come First Served (FCFS) basis once AA completes the programming. This programming is not expected to occur until after a Single Passenger Service System is in place, which is expected sometime in the fall of 2015.
For now, jumpseat boarding will remain status quo at each legacy airline.
