October PBS Bid Closes

Awards will be posted in PBS by 0900 PHX/1200 EDT on Friday, September 18. They can be found under the Award tab in PBS. They will not be posted into Catcrew immediately.
Awards must be posted in Catcrew by 0900 PHX/1200 EDT on Saturday, September 19. 

If you have any questions regarding your award, Trainers will be available daily in the Crewrooms until September 22nd and the FARC-(480)693-8232 is also available to answer any questions.

November VEX Submission

If you have 7 or more consecutive days of vacation in November and would like to take advantage of up to 4 VEX days (Vacation EXtension days) you may submit the VEX form anytime between September 19th and September 30th.

VEX days are pre-planned days OFF and therefore once VEX days are added to your line, you cannot bid pairings in PBS that overlap those days. You can use ISAP or ETB to modify your schedule over those days.

The form can be found on Wings:

1. Click on “Flight Service” 
2. Select “Bidding”
3. Scroll down until you see “VEX Form”

Vacation Bidding Opens

Bidding for 2016-2017 vacation opened September 15 and will remain open until October 15 at 1800 PHX/2100 EDT. Bidding is done through Catcrew option 14.  

During the next year, which is a transition year as we move to a fiscal year for bidding that aligns with Legacy American Airlines, you will be bidding your accrued vacation over a 16 month period: January 2016 through April 2017.

Award Challenges

If you feel that there is an issue with your award that may have been caused by a system error that resulted in a misaward, you MUST contact the FARC before 0900 PHX/1200 EDT on Wednesday, September 23rd to be eligible for contractual resolution if your award is deemed a valid misaward.

ISAP and Being Added to the Unsuccessful Bidders List

When bidding a unit in ISAP, you have the ability to mark that unit as “Send to Daily: YES”. The units marked to be sent to Daily Scheduling are what create the Unsuccessful Bidders List or UBL each day. Each morning, Scheduling gets a list of all the unsuccessful bidders and the pairings that they were attempting to pick-up/drop/trade in their ISAP unit. The UBL is processed in seniority order throughout the day as pairings open up. 

There are a few things with the UBL that are important to keep in mind:

1.“Wants Better”

a. If your ISAP unit is an attempt to trade your pairing with another one that originates on the SAME day, that unit does not get sent to the UBL. After the ISAP/AIL processing runs two days prior to the origination day, you are “locked into” your pairing and you can not go to the UBL for a pairing that originates on the same day as the pairing in your line.

b. For example: During the ISAP/AIL run on the night of Sep. 13th, Susan has an ISAP unit bidding to drop pairing 35007/15Sep and to pick up 75003/15Sep. They are both 3-day pairings. If 75003/15Sep cannot be awarded to Susan during the ISAP/AIL run on Sept. 13th, even if she has marked “Sent to Daily-YES” it does not get added to the UBL the following morning. This is an example of “Wants Better”.

2. Swapping trips on different days

a. If your ISAP unit is attempting to trade your pairing with another one that originates on a DIFFERENT day than your original pairing, it can get added to the UBL.

b. For example: During the ISAP/AIL processing run on the night of Sept. 13th, Joe has a bid to drop pairing 16130/17Sep and pick up pairing 35007/15Sep and marked it as “Send to Daily-YES”. Because the two pairings originate on different days, this unit would be added to the UBL on the morning of Sep. 14th after the ISAP/AIL run is finished processing. If 35007/15Sep became available, during the Future/Daily processing and scheduling got to Joe’s seniority with the pairing, he could be awarded the swap.

3. The whole unit goes to the UBL

a. If a unit is marked as “Send to Daily-YES” the entire unit and all pairings bid in that unit get sent to the UBL. If you do not want all the pairings in your unit to be sent to the UBL, create a second unit with only the pairings you want to be on the UBL and only mark that unit as “Send to Daily-YES”.
