December PBS Bid Award Remedy
Your PHX Base APFA Leadership has heard from many Flight Attendants over the past few days. We appreciate the time that each of you have taken to express your disappointment and concerns over the December Bid Award. Many of you have reached out to me directly, I spoke to a few of you, and written back to many more of you, it is important to let you know collectively it has been a busy past few days. Not only have I and other Base Leaders been in contact with Company Officials, National APFA Leadership, and the other LUS Base Presidents to keep abreast of the situation, I personally was busy attending annual Recurrent Training (CQ) between the calls, emails, and text messages.
The Company and AOS, the PBS vendor, have identified the issues that affected the December Bid Award. That leaves us with what is being done by the Company to remedy this award. Please check your AA.com email account for the details of the remedy. Brian Clark, the APFA National Communications Chair has also sent an email to your email address on record with APFA.
While the remedy is not ideal, it goes a long way to mend much of the disappointment and frustration that we all have felt. Each of you has handled this situation with the dignity, grace, and patience expected while working to reach an agreeable remedy. The Company has acknowledged the shortcomings that have been exposed in this situation. There has been a willingness of the parties involved at the Company to identify and work toward an agreeable resolution quickly. The JIRC members, APFA National Officers, and the APFA National Scheduling Chair, Jaimie McNeice, all played an important role as well.
Always remember that the Flight Attendant Resource Center (FARC) and the trainers at the airport continue to work beside us, and your Base Leadership is right beside you as well. We are all in this together and we will come out of it on the other side stronger. Every PHX-Based Flight Attendant has been able to depend on each other and continue to show our passengers that it was just another great day in the friendly skies. Thank You.
As we look to one of the busiest travel periods of the year, take time to give thanks to yourselves, your family, and your friends for a job well done over the past year. The PHX Base is a family. We will continue to support each other every day.
On behalf of your entire APFA PHX Base Leadership Team, HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
Joseph Seelye
APFA PHX Base President
