Your APFA Board of Directors (BOD), composed of the National Officers and Base Presidents, informally met at APFA Headquarters this week to discuss the pressing issues facing our membership and how best to resolve those issues as a unified collective force. Substandard hotel lodging, exhausting trip sequences/trip pairings and numerous reassignments and reschedules were just some of the issues discussed over a two-day period. We are aware of the adverse impact some of the Company’s actions have on our membership. Their actions materially diminish the quality of our work life, and in some cases, are a direct violation of our contract. We will amplify our protests and take a strategic position against the Company’s practices and infractions as one strong, unified body.
We also met face-to-face with the APFA Department Chairs to gain a deeper insight on the magnitude of the issues facing our membership. Their engagement added valuable information to our discussions, aiding your leadership to fashion strategies aimed at ensuring proper enforcement of contractual language and delivering expeditious relief where needed.
I am proud of the collaborative efforts of the Board of Directors this week. Each member productively shared opinions and exchanged ideas on how best to combat the challenges we, as a membership, are currently facing. The BOD is bound by a strong sense of unity moving forward to represent your interests. We remain fiercely committed to the cause. I am confident that with your continued demonstration of steadfast solidarity, we will achieve the respect and dignity to which we are entitled.
In Unity,
Bob Ross
APFA National President
