Broken Promises Picketing Events – LAA/LUS
Join us next Tuesday, February 14th for Valentine’s Day picketing events at a base near you! Make your voice heard and let management see a united show of solidarity. The honeymoon is over! AA’s customers were promised a world class airline, and their Flight Attendants were promised a contract in line with their peers in the industry. These broken promises just won’t fly. It’s time to flex our collective muscle by raising our collective voice. Show your unity and solidarity by walking the line with APFA next Tuesday!
“American’s Flight Attendants were instrumental in making this merger possible and it’s high time that the new management team starts making good on its pre-merger promise to end the toxic labor relations and run a world class airline.”
–APFA President Bob Ross

Yellow Fever in Brazil – LAA/LUS
There have been recent travelers’ advisories from the Centers for Disease Control and the World Health Organization concerning the increasing incidence of Yellow Fever cases in Brazil. It is recommended that all crew members, but particularly those who fly to Brazil get the Yellow Fever vaccine.
The vaccine is currently available at the Premise Clinics in both MIA and DFW, and LGA is in the works. The Premise clinic at LAX is not scheduled to open until June, however, HR has confirmed that the vaccine is covered as preventive under our health plans as long as it is administered by a provider in the network.
The current Yellow Fever vaccine is a lifetime vaccine. There is no need for boosters every 10 years or so. If you were vaccinated more than 10 years ago, it is advisable to check with your Health Care Provider in order to determine whether you need a booster. It is a “live virus vaccine”, so if a person is immune compromised or allergic to eggs, they should first consult with their private physician.
It is also suggested that the vaccine be given when a person has a couple of days off work in the event of a really sore arm or “malaise” after the shot. Please refer to theCenters for Disease Control and World Health Organization websites for additional information.

Clarification on IOD Filing Times for Texas – LAA
Last week’s hotline referring to IOD reporting times in each state failed to mention Texas. In the state of Texas, Flight Attendants must file an IOD within 30 days of an injury.
