Hotel News You Can Use! – LAA/LUS

A new section has been added to the APFA Hotel Department Page to communicate upcoming changes in hotels and transportation as well as dates of upcoming hotel reviews:

Check out our page and always remember to send your hotel and transportation debriefs to APFA. Venting on Facebook has its place, but the only way we can make our case to the Company is with official documentation. Also, keep in mind that reporting the good is just as important as reporting the bad and the ugly. Keep those reports coming!

Upcoming Retirement Seminars – LAA/LUS

The APFA Retirement Department will be on the road later this month with a round of retirement seminars. We are excited to include Pittsburgh as a new location given the very high percentage of commuters living in this former LUS base city. These seminars cover a wide range of topics including retiree travel, pensions, 401(k), Social Security, Medicare and COBRA.

3/20 – PIT Hyatt Regency Airport Hotel (https://pittsburghairport.regency.hyatt.com/en/hotel/our-hotel.html)
3/21 – PHL – The Tour Room (Entry from the walkway between terminals B & C inside security)

Both seminars are scheduled from 1100-1400 local base time. PLEASE NOTE: Due to lack of room availability, the seminar for Charlotte on 3/22 has been CANCELLED.

In order to give us an accurate headcount for Pittsburgh, if you are planning to attend, please reach out to the Retirement Department via email so we can ensure we have enough support materials on the day of the seminar.

LAA Flight Attendants with a pension can request an estimate by contacting 800-447-2000 or visiting the Pension Service Center on Jetnet.

LUS Flight Attendants can request an estimate of their PBGC pensions in the mail by calling 800-400-7242.

All members, regardless of seniority or base, are welcome to attend. It’s never too early to start planning for retirement.

APFA Annual Board of Director’s Convention – LAA/LUS

The APFA Annual Board of Director’s Convention and Awards Banquet will be held March 6-9, 2017 at the Embassy Suites Downtown St. Louis, 610 North 7th Street, St. Louis, MO. 63101. Members in good standing are welcome to attend all open portions of the meeting.

The Awards and Recognition Banquet will be held on the evening of March 6, 2017 at the National Blues Museum where we will honor several colleagues and friends with the following awards:

The Martha W. Griffiths Award – Colleen Brenner
The Distinguished Service Award – Greg Gunter (Posthumously)
The Jose Chiu Award – American Airlines Flight 383
The Jose Chiu Award – US Airways Flight 1549 “Miracle on the Hudson”
APFA Honorary Membership – LaDonna Casey

Tickets for the Awards Banquet were very popular and sold out quickly. Therefore, we will not be able to provide tickets at the door as space is limited. So that all members are able to view the evening’s event, a digital program has been created. Yesterday’s Special EAP Hotline mistakenly reported Flight Attendant Tony Gray’s class date as 2016-16. The correct class date for Tony is 2016-20.
