The Partnership for Open & Fair Skies is a coalition of leading U.S. airlines and unions including APFA and APA. Television ads will run for the next three weeks.

APFA Retirement Seminars Next Week – LAA/LUS

East Coast retirement seminars are just around the corner:

Both seminars are scheduled from 1100-1400 local base time.  PLEASE NOTE: Due to lack of room availability, the seminar for Charlotte on 3/22 has been CANCELLED.

In order to give us an accurate headcount for Pittsburgh, if you are planning to attend, please reach out to the Retirement Department via email so we can ensure we have enough support materials on the day of the seminar.

LAA Flight Attendants with a pension can request an estimate by contacting 800-447-2000 or visiting the Pension Service Center on Jetnet.

LUS Flight Attendants can request an estimate of their PBGC pensions in the mail by calling 800-400-7242.

All members, regardless of seniority or base, are welcome to attend.  It’s never too early to start planning for retirement.

APFA Celebrates Women’s History Month – LAA/LUS

There is no shortage of successful women who have contributed greatly to APFA and airline unions in general. This year, APFA honored founding member of APFA, Colleen Brenner with its highest award, the Martha W. Griffiths Award.

Colleen graduated from the American Airlines Stewardess College in Class 62-03. From the beginning of her career she was an active and involved union advocate holding several Chairperson and Board  Member positions with TWU Local 552 which represented the Flight  Attendants prior to the formation of APFA.

In 1976, she and several of her colleagues decided it was time to branch out on their own to become a wholly independent union that would solely represent the Flight Attendants of American Airlines. Her vision of independence and the advancement of the Flight Attendant career came to fruition when APFA officially became the recognized bargaining agent for American Airlines Flight Attendants on May 16, 1977.

Colleen went on to hold several positions at APFA including National Vice President in the late 80’s when APFA led the fight to end weight discrimination at American Airlines. Her unfailing determination, strength, and foresight represents the true spirit of unionism.
