Updated Wage Table – LAA/LUS
The following table indicates new pay rates for each seniority step. The 1/1/2017 rates increase by 1.6% per the arbitration award. This increase is retroactive back to 9/2016 however, the 5/2/2017 increase is not. The lump sum payout will be issued as a separate payment and taxed as salary at the normal rate. Once the date is provided for the lump sum payout, more information will follow on 401K options.Â

NAI Update – LAA/LUS
APFA Government Affairs thanks Congressman Peter DeFazio for his continued support of American airline workers.
Yesterday, Ranking Member DeFazio (OR-4) introduced legislation which would outlaw the flag of convenience business model that carriers like Norwegian Air International (NAI) are trying to establish in our industry. In order to take advantage of substandard labor laws, NAI has decided to incorporate in Ireland, despite the fact that the carrier has no intention of basing any operations or even flying into the country. By flagging itself as an Irish carrier, NAI is able to outsource flight crew staffing to firms in Thailand and Singapore. This convoluted scheme undercuts our profession and flies in the face of the US-EU Open Skies Agreement.
The flag of convenience model destroyed the US merchant marine. We must do everything possible to ensure it doesn’t happen to the airline industry. In the coming weeks, APFA Government Affairs will be calling on Flight Attendants to help support a strategy to get co-sponsors on Mr. DeFazio’s legislation. We need your help in protecting our jobs and the future of our industry! NO NAI!
