Follow Up Q&As on Letters of Agreement – LAA/LUS
Q: Will the outcome of the pending vote on the 40-hour scheduling limitation have any impact on FOI in October 2018?
A: No, regardless of the outcome, FOI is October 2018.
Â
Q: Pending the outcome of the vote on the 40-hour scheduling limitation, will it have any impact on the timing of the Company’s plan to implement PBS?
A: No, the outcome of the vote has no bearing on the timing of PBS implementation. This vote addresses thresholds and a Flight Attendant’s ability to drop or trade below 40 credit hours following their PBS bid award. The timing of PBS implementation is a separate issue.Â
APFA takes the position that the Company cannot stagger the PBS rollout. Rather, we strongly believe PBS must be implemented at the same time at all non PBS bases only when they can assure us that it can function flawlessly for all 14 bases. The Company disagrees. If this dispute is not resolved, APFA is reserving the right to take legal action.
Â
Q: If there is no adjustment to the Implementation Schedule and non-PBS bases stay with the current annual vacation bidding and trips missed, will that delay FOI or the implementation of PBS?
A: No. This adjustment to the Implementation Schedule is so all Flight Attendants, regardless if they are in a PBS or non-PBS base, will have the same annual vacation bidding process and compensation according to Section 8 of the JCBA. It will have no impact on the Company’s timeline for FOI or the implementation of PBS.

APFA Gains Improvement on Interim Pay Protection (IPP) – LAA
APFA is pleased to announce an improvement to IPP procedures. Currently, a Flight Attendant is obligated to accept a trip beyond the footprint of his/her original trip if (s)he has a day-off (DO) following Days Originally Scheduled to Fly (DOSTF).
Starting with trips originating in the June 2017 bid month, if you experience a Misconnection/Illegality/Cancellation (MIC) and are held for DOSTF, you will only be obligated to accept a trip that terminates within the same calendar days of the footprint of your original trip. This includes the debrief. All other procedures/steps to qualify for IPP as well as last five days of the month pay protection remain unchanged.
