HAPPY International Flight Attendant Day!
Each day, Flight Attendants around the globe pack their bags, kiss their loved ones goodbye, and head to the skies where they perform duties and face challenges very few people truly understand.Â
A visit to any Flight Attendant training facility is an eye opening experience for those, who at first glance, may only consider the service aspect of our jobs.Â
When passengers look at a Flight Attendant, they may see a smiling face welcoming them on-board or handing them a cocktail; but they are also looking at a safety professional who, at a moments notice, can go from service provider to caregiver and first responder.Â
They may not realize that their first flight of the day may be a flight crew’s fourth after minimum rest the previous night. Â
They may not realize that while greeting them with a smile at the boarding door, their Flight Attendant is  also on alert for signs of suspicious activity that could potentially put the flight at risk or lead to the arrest of a human trafficker.Â
Thousands of flights terminate each day with little fanfare or notice of a job well done by the consummate professionals who carry out service and provide for the safety and comfort of the passengers in their care.Â
APFA appreciates Flight Attendants today and every day for their dedication and commitment that, all too often, goes unrecognized. Â
