Greetings PHX Flight Attendants!
The busy summer flying schedule is in full swing. Packed planes, weather delays, mechanicals, etc… lead to a high level of frustration for our Flight Attendants during the height of season. Your PHX base leadership is fully aware of your frustration regarding disruptions to your trip due to unforeseen circumstances. Please know we are doing everything we can to assist you during these situations.
We’d like to point you in the direction of some helpful sections of the 2013 Red Book that you should familiarize yourself with:
RESCHEDULING:
10.J: RESCHEDULING
10.J.7 RETURN TO DOMICILE
Also, in the event of a re-route, per Section 10.U.5, positive contact of a change of intinerary can only come from Crew Scheduling, a member of Flight Service Management or the Captain.
HOURS OF SERVICE:
11.E HOURS OF SERVICE CHART
‘When Do I Go Illegal?’ worksheet (make sure to convert all times to HBT)
JULY CUN TRIP REMOVALS:
For those of you who had CUN turns removed from your July schedule, Labor Relations has advised us that all removals will be pay protected and all claims will be filed by the Company. No action is needed by the Flight Attendant. Should you find that you have not been pay protected for these trips, please contact a member of your PHX APFA leadership.
A330 TRAINING:
A330 training awards for the August bid month have been posted on the Flight Service page of Jetnet. Bidding for September classes will be announced in the near future. Keep an eye on your company email for bid opening and closing dates. Once the bid opens, log into Jetnet>Departments>Flight Service>Training>Training Links Box.
LENGTHY ON-HOLD TIMES WITH CREW SCHEDULING/TRACKING:
We are well aware of lengthy hold times with crew scheduling during irregular operations. If you find yourself on hold for an unacceptable time waiting for scheduling/tracking to answer, don’t hang up as you don’t want to lose your place in queue. In the meantime, another member of your crew can contact Daily Ops at 682-315-7070. Don’t forget to report your experience to APFA by filling out a Crew Scheduling Feedback Form located on the APFA website:
HOTEL/TRANSPORTATION ISSUES:
No one wants to have to wait for a hotel during irregular operations. If you feel you’ve waited an unacceptable time for a hotel; please report it to APFA by filling out a Hotel/Transportation debrief form:
Remember, Flight Attendants now get “8 hours rest behind the door” at the hotel. This is 8 hours from receiving your hotel room key to van time.
LAST LEG DEADHEAD:
If the last leg of your trip is a deadhead, you are not required to take the deadhead nor are you required to contact crew scheduling to “ask” to be released. If you are on reserve and don’t take your deadhead, you’re responsible to be back in base for any subsequent reserve assignments.
