FAA Cabin Safety Checks
The FAA will be conducting cabin safety checks at all bases through the end of March 2018. Flight Attendants should be prepared to answer questions about the Inflight Manual (IFM) and demonstrate their ability to use the Flight Attendant tablet.
For those Flight Attendants who have already attended CQ 17-18, you should be prepared to locate information within the Comply365 application.
Additionally, you can expect FAA cabin safety inspectors to verify that:
The Flight Attendant tablet is powered on at the time of sign-in allowing downloads, updates or new content.
The tablet battery is at 90% or better for the first flight of the day.
The back-up battery has 100% charge and is stored in the charging case or original clear plastic case.
The IFM is updated to the most current version available on both the Comply365 application and the PDF version under the IFM icon.
3Q17 Executive Committee Meeting
The 3Q17 Executive Committee Meeting will be held in the Unity Pays Conference Room at APFA Headquarters on November 9 – 10, 2017 from 0900 – 1700 CT
All members in good standing are welcome and encouraged to attend.
Elevate the Experience – WBT
Due to multiple IT problems, the Company has extended the deadline for completion of this WBT to January 31, 2018.
Listeria-LAX catering changes
On Tuesday, Oct. 31 American announced that we would immediately cease using the services of onboard caterer Gate Gourmet at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
Gate Gourmet has informed us that traces of listeria have been found within their facility. Listeria is a serious matter, and out of an abundance of caution, the Company is suspending the use of catering from this location.
There have been no reports of illness related to the LAX Gate Gourmet catering operation related to this incident.
Pregnant women, newborns, individuals over 65, and those with compromised or weakened immune systems are most at risk.
To learn more about Listeria, consult the Centers for Disease Control website.
