1.05.18 – Winter Weather Irregular Opperation Reminders, On-Hold Times with Crew Scheduling, Hotel and Transportation Issues,

WINTER WEATHER IRREGULAR OPERATION REMINDERSGreetings PHX Flight Attendants!

With the winter travel season upon us and a Northeast Blizzard in the books, we’ve put together a list of the most popular questions brought to your leadership during irregular operations. Below, you will find helpful sections of the 2013 Red Book that you should familiarize yourself with. We encourage you to read, understand, and ask questions before you are in a situation of not knowing your contractual rights per the 2013 Red Book.

RESCHEDULING:

10-J: RESCHEDULING (the entire section)
10-J-7: RETURN TO DOMICILE

Also, in the event of a re-route, per section 10-U-5, positive contact of a re-route can only come from Crew Scheduling, a member of Flight Service Management, or the Captain.

HOURS OF SERVICE:

11-E: HOURS OF SERVICE CHART

‘When Do I Go Illegal?’ worksheet (make sure to convert all times to HBT)LENGTHY ON-HOLD TIMES WITH CREW SCHEDULING/TRACKING:

We are well aware of lengthy hold times with crew scheduling during irregular operations. If you find yourself on hold for an unacceptable time waiting for scheduling/tracking to answer, don’t hang up.  You don’t want to lose your place in queue.

HOTEL/TRANSPORTATION ISSUES:

LUS Hotel/Limo Desk:  800-327-0117; prompt 1,9. FOS equipment type codes are as follows:

A320   320
B757   757
A330   330

Please keep in mind that the LUS Hotel/Limo Desk is staffed with LUS line FAs who work very hard to accommodate everyone as expeditiously as possible during Irregular Operations.

While no one wants to have to wait for a hotel during irregular operations, if you feel you’ve waited an unacceptable time for a hotel; please report it:

[email protected]

Remember, LUS flight attendants now get “8 hours rest behind the door” at the hotel which is 8 hours from receiving your hotel room key to van time.

LAST LEG DEADHEAD:

If the last leg of your trip is a deadhead, you are not required to take the deadhead nor are you required to contact crew scheduling to “ask” to be released. Once assigned a deadhead, you may non-rev on an earlier flight if you so choose. If you are on reserve and don’t take your deadhead, you’re responsible to be back at base for any subsequent reserve assignments.
