April 2019 Allocations
Greetings PHX FA’s!
On March 1, 2019, PHX Base President Mischel Babi and PHX Base Council Representative Dan Friel participated in our monthly Crew Planning and Sequence Allocations call. While we weren’t pleased with our Sequence Allocations, the crew planning numbers remained in line with last year’s numbers sans Rotating Reserve.
We continue to voice your concerns to the company regarding trip construction, the number of 4-day trips and the amount of ODAN’s allocated to our base based on the feedback we receive.
On our Allocations and Planning call for the bid month of March 2019 which occurred on February 1, 2019, PHX Base Council Rep Dan Friel took feedback to the company to reduce the amount of 4-day sequences in April 2019 from an approximate 18-20% down to 8-10%. This was due to reports from a majority of Flight Attendants that do not desire these types of sequences. The company did not listen, and imposed 20.9% 4-day trips on the PHX base for the bid month of April 2019. While PHX has a diverse group of locals, commuters and people that do desire a 4-day trip; a 10% pool or less of 4-day trips seems to be the “sweet spot” to satisfy everyone in the base. As of 9:30AM MST time during the call, there were twelve pages of 4-day trips out for drop. This is another clear indication that 4 day trips are obviously not desired by the majority.
Also on this month’s call we expressed our dis-satisfaction of the length of the layovers on multi-day sequences. We let the company know that having a 12 hour layover then going down to a 10 hour layover followed by another 10 hour layover is simply exhausting to any Flight Attendant having to work these sequences designed by a computer and is simply in-humane.
The following is what to expect for the April 2019 bid period:
*1-day Sequence: 22.6%
*2-day Sequence: 31.6%
*3-day Sequence: 24.9%
*4-day Sequence: 20.9%
*Approximate and preliminary
We will continue to voice your concerns to the company regarding our sequence construction and allocations. While it appears it falls on deaf ears, be sure we are fighting for all of you.
