12.06.19 – ORD Base Brief
Friday, December 6, 2019
Hello ORD!
Welcome to the December Base Brief. We will share all pertinent information from the JAN Allocation call and hot topics at the Base. A communication reminder… text, phone, email are the preferred ways to reach ORD reps. We do not have an official FB page and cannot consistently monitor the numerous social media outlets ORD FAs follow. Base Briefs are sent thru HDQ. Please encourage your fellow FAs to sign up for the APFA Hotlines.
The Thanksgiving critical period was 11/27-12/1. You accrue one incentive credit for working all operational assignments during this period. Please check My View on the Flight Service website for your Incentive Credit (Reward Bank). Contact your FSM with any questions. The next holiday critical period is 12/22-1/3.
The deadline for ordering uniforms is DEC 9. Flight Service has asked FAs with any questions or concerns to reach out to their FSM.

Call Highlights:
-Schedule changes on 1/7.
-There is very little 787 domestic flying in JAN. No clear explanation was given other than Network Planning changing the schedules. We expressed our frustration especially with the additional seasonal pulldown of CDG.
-The trip distribution (1-day, 2-day, 3-day, 4-day) is similar to DEC.
-The ODAN volume is slightly down. The company number is based on “starts per day”. DEC 5.1 v JAN 4.2.
-The company is striving to drive connection times below 2.30 hrs on narrow body flying.
-Total block hours at the base are down from DEC. Reserve numbers are slightly higher than DEC (+64), but consistent with year over year numbers.
-MSP satellite hours are lower than we like, a request was made for a gradual increase.
Please continue to share your feedback.

System Issues:
Please continue to use the Scheduling System Issues Report Form on the APFA website to report TTS/ETB/ROTA issues. Our team continues to work for resolutions to violations and program fixes.

When you have a workplace issue, please make your first call for assistance to the base Professional Standards Rep. We believe the peer-to-peer approach to conflict resolution is highly effective. It is also preferable to a solution that involves management which can compound the problem.
Jillian Bocenda is the ORD Rep 817-540-0108, x8615.
Uniforms:
The APFA continues to document uniform reaction issues.
