October Pay Guarantee
I am pleased to announce that APFA was able to extend the Letter of Agreement on guarantee protections for October. There still seems to be some uncertainty regarding dropping or trading trips if your trip completely cancels (XI), and your pay projection adjusts accordingly.
Once the guarantee is established in PBS, the schedule is audited by Crew Compensation at closeout. The canceled sequences are added to the final pay protection up to the applicable guarantee. Regardless of whether you trade or drop, the cumulative total of canceled hours will be added to the final pay protection. The canceled sequences will represent a bank of guaranteed paid hours not to exceed the established PBS guarantee.
Example:
In the above example, the canceled sequences total 30 hours. That bank of hours is added to the final pay projection which is 40 hours (including the 7 hour drop/ trade down in time). The Flight Attendant is guaranteed 70 hours of pay.
GRU TTS Programming Error
There has been a programming error in TTS regarding the GRU rockets for October. The computer is giving a false error and a red ‘X‘ indicating illegal layover rest. Since these are contractual exceptions, TTS did not recognize the reduced layover rest qualifying them as rockets. IPD sequences must have 14 hours of non-reducible rest. The only contractual exception to this rest requirement would be sequences identified as rockets. To qualify as a rocket, the sequence must be originally constructed with layover rest under 14 hours.
I have been in touch with the Company, and they are working on a fix for tonight’s TTS run.
Latin America Reductions
The Latin America reductions are still a work in progress, and we expect to receive an update from the Company within the next couple weeks. I will update the base as soon I receive the final numbers.
