March 2021 Allocations
On Monday, February 5th, the Company hosted its monthly staffing and allocations call with APFA. The SFO, DFW, and PHX Base Presidents all voiced concerns over the high percentage of Reserves at our respective bases. Once again, the Company cited historical data and the inability to build every Lineholder a contractually guaranteed line without the higher Reserve percentages. Our response was simply that historical data on sick calls etc., no longer apply to our base as our staffing is less than half of the size it has been in the past few years. Also, we have no Flight Attendants in the PHX base with less than 17 years of service.
Once the LRD tool opened it was apparent that the Company was not prepared for rotating Reserve at this base after the displacements. In the information given to us in the preliminary manning plan, the number of Reserves for PHX was 198. However, the LRD tool stated 203 as targeted Reserves. And when looking at the individual Flight Attendant slated for Reserve, the number was XXX out of 165.
This has been brought to the Company’s attention and we are attempting to schedule a call with Labor and Planning to discuss the situation further.
The March bid sheets are now available for viewing on Jetnet > Flight Service > Bidding – PBS > Current Bid Sheets > PHX
March PBS bidding will open, Sunday, February 14th at 1200 (CST) and will close on Thursday, February 18th at 1200 (CST).

Remaining March Bidding Timelines
Last Sequence of the Month
Please be aware that the Company and APFA have a difference of opinion with regards to pay/credit for last trip of the month that involves a carryover. Please ensure you are checking your sequences that have carryover for any change in value. If there is a change, please complete a Scheduling Systems Issue Report Form on APFA.org.
Reserve Training
We are currently working with PHX Base Management to allow volunteers to be upstairs in the crew room, in a socially distanced manner, to assist Flight Attendants with the March Bid and a quick review/training of daily bidding on Reserve. We are keenly aware that no one thought Reserve would go this senior in PHX. You can view a Reserve bidding tutorial video on YouTube. Simply click on the image below to get started.
No VLOA’s for March
For the March bid month, Voluntary Leaves of Absence (VLOAs) were not offered to any base by the Company.
February “Well for Work”
As a reminder, all active Flight Attendants are required to a complete and Well for Work in Comply365 or at aa.comply365.net by the end of each month.
It is a short-declaration acknowledging that you are aware of the symptoms of COVID-19 and you agree to do an individual health evaluation before reporting to work each day to determine if you are displaying any new, unusual or worsening symptoms of COVID-19.
If you are on leave, you are not required to submit a Well for Work self-declaration until you are back to active status. You do have to complete Well for Work if you are attending CQ.
