May 2021 Allocations

On Monday, April 5th, we participated in our monthly allocations call with Planning. We are pleased to announce the start-up of daily ANC flying beginning May 1st. We are also happy to see JFK turns and MIA and CLT turns. 4-day trips went from 7% to 4% for May, with several that are commutable at both ends, and we also see an increase from 1.2% to 3.6% in our ODANs. We are still working on getting more ODANs and keeping the percentage of 2-days at or above 35%. While we did have a reduction in 1-days from 30% to 27%, the addition of JFK turns daily and ORD, SEA, MKE and PDX with less than 2-hour sit times between each leg is very welcoming.

This morning, April 8th, we participated in the manning call for May 2021. We originally were only offered 5 unpaid VLOAs and were able, with PHX Flight Service Management, to secure 15 more for a total of 20. We also voiced our objections to constraints on the number of hours our Flight Attendants can bid and hold. In the past 2 to 3 months, we were held to constraints of 84-hour lines starting early in our bid positions, with only the top 100-150 Flight Attendants holding high time flying.

If you have not been 777 and IFS trained, please call and bid for training as soon as possible. Those that are not awarded or drafted in May will possibly be assigned training in June. It will be required for all PHX-based Flight Attendants in PHX to be 777 qualified.

The Company has given us tools to use with regards to getting the COVID vaccine. If you cannot work around your schedule to get the vaccine, you can call the COVID Support Center to help facilitate time off at 800-423-3444. The support center enter will operate daily from 0900 to 1900 (CDT) except on Memorial Day, July 4th and other major holidays. You will be removed from duty without pay. If you are receiving the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, you will be eligible to be removed from duty of each dose.  At your option, you may use a Comply365 form to request the use of available sick or vacation to be paid out for lost time.

Should you experience symptoms that keep you from working after receiving the vaccine, call Crew Scheduling as soon as possible to be removed from the sequence. The submit a Vaccination Side Effect Recode form in Comply 365. You will need to submit a form for each day you call in sick. (aa.comply365.net)

We want to invite our PHX Flight Attendants to come in and see the APFA PHX office Monday and Tuesday, April 12th and 13th. These are also the dates that the Aviator Advantage Cash team will be upstairs with their “Spin the Wheel” for prizes. Some of the new Base Council Representatives (BCRs) and APFA PHX Vice President Secorra Flowers, and APFA PHX President Robin Agee, will be there to answer any questions and say hello.

Should you find yourself in need of emergency travel and time off, please reach out to your FSM or, if they aren’t available, any FSM during regular business hours. If the need arises after business hours, call Daily Operations at 888-222-4737. They can pull you from flying as well as schedule emergency travel if needed.

This month we say “thank you and see you soon” to our PHX Base FA’s that took advantage of this last VEOP.  We will miss our flying partners and look forward to seeing them on future flights as they enjoy their well-earned retiree benefits.
