7.10.24 – Reserve Bidding Update for August 2024
Reserve Bidding Update for August 2024
Wednesday, July 10, 2024
Each month, a team of APFA Contract and Scheduling Reps review the PBS Misaward Challenges that are submitted to the Union. We escalate many of those to the Company for further review and discussion. A consistent topic of discussion has been the Reserve waiver that allows the underlying days of a carry-over trip to be days off.
It’s clear the verbiage of this waiver has caused confusion. Many Flight Attendants have reported that the “Add Bid” button led them to believe this button was needed to save their Reserve Days Off bid.
The Company has agreed to make a change to the verbiage of the button used to apply the waiver. Going forward, the button to apply the waiver will read “Add Waiver” instead of “Add Bid”.
See the examples below for the updated button
New “Add Waiver” Button
New “Delete Waiver” Button
Use the “Delete Waiver” button if you previously added the waiver, but no longer wish to waive your carry-over trip to be days off.
The previous button with the “Add Bid” verbiage has been replaced
Please review the following from the PBS Guide for additional information on this waiver:
Waive to Allow Carryover to be Days Off
This Reserve waiver allows you to designate carry-over pairings as Reserve Days Off in the following bid month. If used, any carry-over trip will be paid above your Reserve guarantee (pay no credit).
Unless selected, the days of the trip in the new month count toward your Reserve work block and count towards your Reserve guarantee (pay and credit).
Selecting this option guarantees days off under your carry-over trip, it is not based on seniority. This option must be selected in layer 1, and applies to every layer thereafter.
PBS Bids are Auto-Saved
As a reminder, PBS automatically saves your bid immediately after each preference is entered or removed. There is no “Save” button in PBS. You will momentarily see a “Saved” indicator at the top of the screen (see screenshot below).
Note: If the top of your screen shows “Saving” for an extended period of time, the system may have locked. Refresh your screen and make sure any changes have been saved.
