8.24.01 – (LAA) – Ratification Ballots Mailed, TA Briefings
This is Leslie Mayo, National Communications Coordinator, with the APFA HotLine for Friday, August 24, 2001.
All APFA members should have already received their ratification ballots in the mail. The ballots must be returned to the designated post office in Fort Worth, Texas, by September 12th at 9:00 a.m. CDT. Follow all instructions on the ballot and secret envelope carefully. Remember that your ballot must be received via the US Post Office and not by Board Mail or an APFA lockbox. It is recommended that you use pencil to mark your ballot as that will speed up the vote counting process. If you use pen, your vote will be counted, however, it must be counted by hand.
If you have not yet received your ballot, please call the National Balloting Committee at APFA headquarters, extension 8311 to request a duplicate. Don’t forget to leave your full name, employee number, address and phone number in your message.
You must be dues current by September 11th for your vote to count. If you are in dues arrears, please call the Dues department at extension 8151 to make payment arrangements. You also must be dues current to attend one of the remaining Tentative Agreement briefings.

PhoneWatch is still available to answer any questions you have regarding the Tentative Agreement. They are available Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. PhoneWatch will cease operation on August 31st at 4:00 p.m. The APFA leadership would like to thank IDF Flight Attendant George Berry for coordinating PhoneWatch as well as all of the Flight Attendants who volunteered their time to answer the phones and get involved.
Recently, the Company sent notification to all Flight Attendants regarding their intent to cease the provision of a paper copy of your paycheck stub. APFA has been in talks with the Company and will continue to research the pros and cons but has not yet taken a position. Until this issue is resolved, if you are interested in maintaining a paper copy of your paycheck stub, you must send a fax by Tuesday, August 28 and include your name, employee number and reason for the request, for example “under advice of counsel,” or “under advice of accountant”. Make it attention to: AA Paperless DDP and send it to the following fax number – area code 918.254.3553. Again, please include your name, employee number and reason for the request such as “under advice of counsel” or “under advice of accountant,” attention AA Paperless DDP and fax to: area code 918.254.3553. The deadline has been extended from August 24th to Tuesday, August 28.
That’s it for this week. Remember to wear your Union Pin at work and at all Company Training events. Thank you for calling the APFA HotLine.
