10.23.01 – (LAA) – AA Announces Additional Furloughs, APFA Job Board, Merger and Acquisition Committee Meets at APFA HQ, WINGS All American Showcase

This is Leslie Mayo, APFA National Communications Coordinator, with an updated HotLine for Tuesday, October 23, 2001.

As we told you on Friday, the Company has announced additional furloughs effective in two waves. 200 flight attendants will be furloughed effective November 1, 2001 and the remaining 201 will be furloughed effective December 2, 2001. The most senior flight attendant furloughed has an occupational seniority date of October 12, 2000 and a system seniority number of 22,408. There is a chart on www.www.apfa.org detailing the base-by-base breakdown of manning projections for November.

APFA’s web site is an excellent resource for employment opportunities. We have a job board online with several companies listing job openings, as well as training and resume preparation. From there you will be able to navigate to several valuable employment resources such as the Dislocated Workers Information page, aacareers.com, unemployment information, Cobra Information, etc.

Members of the APFA Merger and Acquisition Committee met today at APFA Headquarters. A meeting has been scheduled with the company to discuss the TWA integration on Thursday, October 25.

APFA met with American’s Vice President of Safety Tim Ahern this week to discuss safety concerns and additional precautions. We will keep you posted as soon as we have further information.

Miami Based Wings is holding an All American Showcase to raise money for the families of American Airlines Crewmembers whose lives were lost on September 11. The Variety Show will take place on Wednesday, November 28 at the Coliseum Dance Club at 2520 South Miami Road in Ft. Lauderdale. Cocktails start at 8:00 and the show begins at 9:00. A $15 donation is requested at the door. The Wings Foundation will distribute all proceeds to the families.
