1.11.02 – (LAA) – Picking Up Optional Exchange Trips
This is George Price with the APFA HotLine for Friday, January 11, 2002.
As a reminder to Reserves, please remember that when you pick up an Optional Exchange trip during your reserve month and you do not meet your monthly maximum, those OE hours will be absorbed into your guarantee. Also, as we reported last week, Management has taken the position that those on Reserve who pick up an Optional Exchange, will automatically waive their 30-in-7 legalities for the remainder of that month. APFA will be filing a Presidential grievance on this issue, as this is a violation of our contract, Article 10.D.2 and Appendix I, Article 10.D.2. Until this issue is resolved, however, the Company does intend to continue waiving the 30-in-7 in this situation. If you have picked up an OE on Reserve and have involuntarily had your 30-in-7 waived as a result, please contact the APFA Scheduling Desk at Headquarters, extension 8161.
American Airlines has acknowledged that those American Airlines Flight Attendants furloughed on November 1, 2001, were inadvertently denied medical coverage after December 31, 2001. If you were furloughed on November 1, you are entitled to medical coverage for ninety days from your furlough date, which would be January 29, 2002. American has assured us that this problem is in the process of being resolved.
