Funeral arrangements have been made for Steve Sternig who died yesterday at his home in New York after a brave fight with pancreatic cancer. The Service will be held on Sunday, April 14th at the Weatherhead Young Funeral Home located at 885 Mantoloking Road in Brick, New Jersey. The phone number there is 732-920-1811. You may arrive beginning at 1:00 p.m. – the service will begin at 2:00 . This will be followed by a cemetery service. Flight Attendants are welcome to wear their uniforms. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to your local Wings chapter in memory of Steve.

It is 7:00 p.m. Central Time. It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that we inform you of the passing of Steve Sternig, LGA Base Chair. Steve died today, April 10th, following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was a good friend to those he loved, and a good rep to those he served. He will be truly missed. Condolences may be sent to Michael Kelley and the Sternig Family at 38 Poppy Court in Brick, NJ. The zip code is 08723. APFA is conducting both a telephone and web survey of International Flight Attendants regarding the 777 Atlantic configuration aircraft. A group of Flight Attendants has been randomly selected for the telephone interview. A similar survey is also available on the website for any 777 qualified Flight Attendant to fill out and give their input.
Michelle Nasca , JFK Base Chair, has filed a Base Grievance addressing the JFK April bid awards. Any Flight Attendant who believes they were affected by the newly acquired Narita flying and how the bids were awarded as a result must contact Michelle Nasca no later than April 12th. At the Executive Committee Meeting this past Tuesday, the following twelve APFA members were confirmed for the National Coordinator and Division Representative Positions effective May 1, 2002:

Brett Durkin was confirmed as Division Rep One which includes the bases of LAX, LAX-I, SFO and SFO-I.
Greg Hildreth was confirmed as Division Rep Two which includes DFW and IDF.
Lynda Richardson was confirmed as Division Rep Three which includes ORD and IOR.
Lori Bassani was confirmed as Division Rep Four which includes DCA, DCA-I, STL and ISL.
Jeff Crecilius was confirmed as Division Rep Five which includes MIA, IMA and RDU-I; and
Leslie Mayo was confirmed as Division Rep Six which includes LGA, JFK, BOS and BOS-I. .
As we mentioned last week, APFA is pursuing the collection of all dues arrears. Names of those Flight Attendants in dues arrears may be published in Skyword, on the website and on Base Bulletin Boards. Contact the APFA Dues Department, ext. 8151 if you wish to become dues current.
If you are an Overage Leave Flight Attendant returning to the line on May 1, 2002, please remember that your qualifications must be current in order to hold a bid for the month of May. If your grace month happens to be April or before, you must be enrolled in EPTs and/or LOA training prior to the bid run. Please contact the Contract Desk at APFA Headquarters, ext. 8171.

American Airlines is still in the process of working out the final details for recall notices to the 40 most senior furloughed flight attendants. We will keep you posted as soon as we receive more information from the company about training dates, bases, report dates, etc.
The Allied Pilots Association (APA) became the official bargaining unit for the TWA LLC pilots this week. APFA is expected to be the official bargaining representative for the TWA-LLC Flight Attendants effective April 18, 2002.
