11.18.03 – (LAA) – 10 Year Anniversary of APFA membership Strike Against AA
This is APFA President John Ward. Today is Tuesday, November 18, 2003.
It seems hard to believe, but today marks the ten year anniversary of the day the APFA membership went on strike against American Airlines. If you were here at that time, I’m certain that, like me, memories of that November morning come flooding back. I specifically recall seeing all those blue uniforms exiting the airport to join those of us who had already begun picketing at DFW. I know all of you who were around at that time have your own personal memories and recollections as well. Please take a moment to today to remember.
Although those were stressful and difficult days to be sure, for the 90+ % of the membership that honored the strike, we had one another for support to get us through that very uncertain time. In that respect, the challenges we face today are no different. The only way we will successfully get through this period in our history is to stick together, just as we did back on November 18, ten years ago.
Please stay on the line for the Friday, November 14 edition of the APFA Hotline. Thank you for calling.
