Hello, this is Denise Pointer, DFW InfoRep with a hotline message for Wednesday, August 3, 2005.

American has announced nonstop service between JFK and Newcastle, U.K. Daily flights are scheduled to begin May 1, 2006, using a 757 with all-coach seating for 188 passengers. Tentatively, the flight is scheduled to depart JFK at 1945 and arrive at Newcastle at 0730. The return leg will leave Newcastle at 1100 and arrive at JFK at 1335.

Texas Congressmen, Dr. Michael Burgess and Kenny Marachant have been large supporters of the fight to maintain the integrity of the Wright Amendment. Last week, these two congressmen held a town hall meeting near DFW. Dozens of AA employees showed up to express their appreciation for these efforts. Thank you to all InfoReps who attended this meeting. Your time and efforts are appreciated.

As I have said in many previous hotlines, the Wright Amendment issue affects all of us at AA. The stakes are huge. Please encourage everyone on the line to go to www.dothewrightthing.com and send a message to Congress.

The hotel department has just completed a very large project that was designed to help flight attendants make the most of their layovers. Go to www.www.apfa.org, click on "Departments" then "Hotel". Under the listing "Layover Hotel List", you will see a new link to "Hotel Tips." There, you will be able to click on each city alphabetically and find a summary of discounts and services available to our crews. Currently, only domestic layovers have been completed. International cities will be done shortly.

You will also see a link labeled "Submit Hotel Tips". Please share your knowledge with the Hotel Department. It is very easy to submit your tips. Just click on the link and fill in the blanks.

The Contract Department has asked that if you currently have a request in for a base transfer and are no longer interested in a transfer, please remove your request from the system so that the next junior F/A can be accommodated.

Since January, APFA has been calling for all InfoReps to renew their commitment to the program. A deadline of July 15th was given. The InfoRep list has been purged and a new roster of committed InfoReps is in place. Thank you to everyone who responded. Soon, you will be seeing InfoReps in Operations recruiting new members and beginning an awareness campaign for this very important program. New PIN numbers for the InfoRep access code will be distributed with your InfoRep handbooks later this month.

I received one rumor question this week: an email from an InfoRep indicated that some flight attendants believe the recent APFA Online Bid Sheet Survey was connected in some way to APFA endorsing and opening the door for preferential bidding. The answer is simple and straightforward. Not true.

Our bid sheets are our life and the APFA Scheduling Department wanted a tool to provide factual data on what our flight attendants want base by base. There is no hidden agenda. Additional information regarding the summary of this survey will be addressed by our National Scheduling Coordinator in Friday’s Hotline.

That’s it for this week. Thanks for all you do for the InfoRep program.
