This is Tommie Hutto-Blake with a special Hotline for Wednesday, August 31.
Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to our members and all employees of American Airlines who have been affected by the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana and Mississippi. APFA would like to remind everyone that the Wings Foundation administers a Disaster Relief Fund for Flight Attendants who have suffered damage to or loss of their homes. If you or any AA Flight Attendant you know of is in need of assistance, please contact the Wings Disaster Relief Committee. Go to www.www.apfa.org and click on Wings Relief on the front page of the website for contact information for these members.
Yesterday, AA sent a relief flight from DFW to MSY to deliver non-perishable food and bottled water to our employees and stranded passengers in New Orleans. The airport suffered some damage and has no power; therefore a relief mission took place during daylight hours. This was one of the few flights that has landed in New Orleans since the devastation occurred. American is also accepting donations of new or used clothing in all sizes – for more information go to www.www.apfa.org .
