Today is Tuesday, November 15. This is Leslie Mayo, National Communications Coordinator with an updated Hotline.
After several weeks of inactivity, Senate leadership has come to resolution on moving the Pension Reform Bill. There is a chance that this important piece of legislation will come to a vote this week and even as early as tonight, November 15. I urge each of you to take a moment to call the offices of the two senators from your state and offer the following information:
1. “I am calling about the Pension Reform Bill.”
2 . Give your name, city and state of residence.
3. “As an American Airlines Flight Attendant and on behalf of all 80,000 American Airlines Employees, I urge the senator to vote YES on the Isakson amendment and YES on final passage of the Pension Reform Bill.”
4. Be courteous and thank them for their time.
You can contact your two senators’ offices by calling the Capitol switchboard at 202-224-3121 and ask to speak to your respective Senators. You don’t need to know who your senators are – the switchboard operators will connect you by your telling them the state where you live. This is a very important legislative initiative that will impact the remainder of your working career AND your retirement. Our defined benefit program will be greatly aided by this bill.
Each senator also has a web site where you may send your thoughts via web mail. Go to www.senate.gov and locate your senators through the state registry. Encourage your flying partners and fellow employees to also take action.
