8.15.07 – (LAA) – Fourth FA Recall, Candidates for Negotiators
Today is Wednesday, August 15, 2007. This is Leslie Mayo, APFA National Communications Coordinator with a Hotline update.
Just over three months ago, we saw the fourth Flight Attendant recall in as many years. Today, APFA is pleased to announce the second Flight Attendant recall of this year to the most senior 460 Flight Attendants on the current AA FA furlough list.
Accept or Reject re-employment letters will be sent today by American Airlines and must be postmarked – using the FED EX envelope that will be included with your recall notice. The first group of up to 260 Flight Attendants will report to their bases on November 13, 2007. The second group of up to 200 Flight Attendants will report to base on December 18, 2007. While this recall will not provide any relief for active FAs currently suffering through the summer flying, it should provide some relief for the upcoming holidays.
American Airlines has stated that these 460 Flight Attendants will be offered a choice of four bases – BOS, DCA, LGA and ORD – to be awarded in seniority order.
Information is available on APFA’s Web site in the RECALL section beginning today including copies of the information that will be mailed to all FA recalls by AA as well as current Bid Cover Sheets and Bid Data so that you may get a better idea of the flying at these four Domestic bases.
This recall includes close to 25% of our remaining furloughed Flight Attendants. APFA is hopeful that AA will continue this trend and recall the remaining 1,500+ FAs still on furlough once these Flight Attendants return to active status.
We will update the Web site throughout this process to ensure our recalled Flight Attendants have the information they need to return to work.
Now, please stay on the line for the rest of this week’s Hotline.
