3.25.08 – (LAA) – Reciprocal Agreements, InFlight Manuals

This is Leslie Mayo, National Communications Coordinator, with an APFA Hotline update for Friday, March 25, 2008.

APFA is pleased to announce reciprocal cabin seat agreements with US Airways and Northwest Airlines bringing to 8 the total number of airlines we have secured cabin seat agreements with. USAirways’ agreement will be effective April 1, 2008, and Northwest Airlines will be effective May 1, 2008. Guidelines for these two airline agreements are available for review on APFA’s Web site. The FAA is in the field full force so as usual, be sure your inflight manuals are up to date. There were manual checks in Boston, Miami and Los Angeles last week to name just a few of the cities inspectors are spending their time.

Crew hotels in Moscow, Milan and Barcelona have been finalized. Please see the hotel section of the APFA website for details. This week, JFK FAs will find informational sheets on Milan and Barcelona in mailboxes at the base. Moscow information sheets will be sent to Chicago once the proffer is complete. The information will include maps, directions to stores, transportation, and hotel amenities.

AA will be transitioning all DFW – LGW flying to DFW – LHR on March 29th. Crewmembers departing on flights 174 and 50 will stay at the mid-point hotel upon arrival on March 29th ONLY. RDU-LGW flight #78, will transition on April 13th and crewmembers arriving on that day only will also be staying at the mid-point hotel. Once normal flight patterns into and out of LHR commence on March 29th and April 13th respectively, all crews will then layover at the regular LHR downtown layover hotel.

In Industry News: The Delta Flight Attendants are set to vote once again for union representation of their currently non-unionized workgroup. AFA-CWA submitted a sufficient number of cards required by the NMB to cause an election for representation. Voting begins April 23 and concludes on June 3rd.

We still have 1,198 furloughed members awaiting recall.
