4.23.08 – (LAA) Arpey’s “Dear Fellow Employee” Letter
This is Jeff Pharr, member of the contract negotiating team, with a special hotline update for April 23, 2008
AMR’s top executives continue to show their profound lack of management skills.
In his “Dear Fellow Employee” letter dated April 16th, Gerard Arpey maintains that, American’s – “financial momentum has been aggravated by a series of operational challenges” most dramatically, the temporary grounding of our MD-80 fleet.” But we all know this avoidable fiasco resulted from nothing more than poor management, already costing AA tens of millions of dollars.
Mailed on the eve of yet another round of undeserved executive rewards, Arpey’s blatant attempt at justification only shifts the blame and glosses over management’s ultimate responsibility.
Let’s remind him where the fault truly lies by turning the letters around.
Mark your unopened letter “REFUSED — RETURN TO SENDER,” and place it back in the mail. Opened letters can be sent back through U.S. or board-mail. Both U.S. and board-mail addresses will be posted on the APFA website at www.www.apfa.org.
