12.10.11 – (LAA) – Introduction to Jeffrey R Freund of Bredhoff and Kaiser
Hotline Update – December 10, 2011
Earlier this week we named the law firms that will represent APFA during bankruptcy — Guerrieri, Clayman, Bartos & Parcelli, P.C. and Bredhoff & Kaiser, P.L.L.C. — and introduced you to some of the counsel that will be working closely with APFA. During the coming weeks, we’ll highlight some of these attorneys so you may have a better understanding of who will be representing you.
Today’s hotline will focus on Jeffrey R. Freund of Bredhoff & Kaiser, P.L.L.C. Jeff has extensive experience representing unions in major and hotly contested bankruptcies dating as far back as the Greyhound Bus bankruptcy arising from the Amalgamated Transit Union strike in 1990, and including US Airways, Atlas Airlines and Hostess Baking. Jeff is currently regular bankruptcy counsel to the National Hockey League Players Association and most recently completed representation of the Association in connection with the Phoenix Coyotes and Dallas Stars bankruptcies. Jeff is extremely familiar with APFA and with the airline industry generally. He was lead counsel for APFA in the interest arbitration that followed the 1993 strike, and later served as a negotiations counsel. Jeff has extensive experience representing pilot groups in connection with airline mergers, including the Southwest pilots in Southwest/AirTran, the Delta pilots in Delta/Northwest, the America West pilots in America West/US Airways, the Atlas pilots in Atlas/Polar, the Alaska pilots in Alaska/Jet America and currently the United pilots in United/Continent. He has represented many other pilot groups (Northwest, United, Hawaiian, ASTAR, Comair) in anticipation of mergers that never occurred and was lead negotiator for the Continental pilots in their 1997 round of bargaining.
We’ll be back tomorrow with another update.
In unity,
Laura Glading
