APFA and AFA Work Together Toward an AA/US Airways Merger – August 30, 2012
Dear Fellow Flight Attendants,
There is no question that in order for our airline to become strong and competitive once again, a merger with US Airways is not only the best option, many believe, inevitable. To that end, and throughout the past several months, APFA has worked closely with AFA – the union that represents the US Airways Flight Attendants. Both of our organizations have a mutual interest in preserving and protecting the flight attendant profession.
Over the past few weeks, I have spoken at length with AFA regarding a potential merger with US Airways and how best to manage the possibilities going forward including representation and our collective efforts. After months of discussion and with the best interests of our members in mind, AFA International President Veda Shook and I agreed to work together on the important issues that will directly affect the flight attendants in the event of a merger between AA and US Airways.

Please review the message of support on APFA’s web site for the process and our commitment to working through the issues.
