APFA Hotline Update: New Hires! Retirement 1,2,3 and APFA’s Fall Board Meeting
October 18, 2012
New Hires!
AA announced that it will be interviewing Flight Attendant candidates beginning in November. No doubt, this is great news for the membership since our system has been all but stagnant since 2001.
Classes are set to begin at the end of January, last 8 1/2 weeks and contain approximately 45 people per class. These FAs will be trained domestically and internationally but will be based in the domestic operation unless, of course, they’re needed as a speaker on Int’l.
AA’s plan is to hire 1,500 FAs over the next 12 months. Interested applicants can apply at www.aacareers.com.
Several factors contributed to the company’s need to hire new flight attendants including the upcoming training needs of those of us currently on the property at an all time high, the LBFO efficiencies that will come over time but not as quickly as AA originally desired, as well as the overwhelming number of FAs leaving the company in the next year.
The company will begin accepting applications on November 5, 2012.
Link to Step-by-Step Retirement Instructions
The October 17th hotline contained a bad link to a step-by-step list of instructions before you retire. The link has been corrected in this email. Those of you leaving the company over the next year should review these steps carefully.
2011 Pension Statement
The company has finally published the 2011 “My Pension Statement” online. It’s a good idea to pull up and save a copy of your Pension Statement, and your 2010 Statement if you did not save that one earlier.
