A Message From APFA President Laura Glading
This week I attended a Flight Service Town Hall meeting at DFW. I was under the impression that I was being invited as a spectator, so I was both surprised and grateful when I learned that I would have the opportunity to answer flight attendants’ questions. There were a lot of great questions and I would like to again thank those members who were able to attend. That experience demonstrated that even though we don’t have all the answers yet, there is a need to address flight attendants in person. We know you still have many more questions regarding the Bridge Agreement (to take effect once we exit bankruptcy and until a new contract is negotiated), the 3% equity claim, seniority integration, reserve, cross-utilization and other scheduling issues. Therefore, I am committed to getting in front of more members face to face over the next several weeks. Preparation for American’s exit from bankruptcy has been fast and furious, but nothing can be more important than communicating the facts to Flight Attendants.
As I told the group assembled on Wednesday, changes won’t happen overnight following American’s bankruptcy exit, but it will get better every single day. I’m looking forward to meeting with all of you over the next several weeks.
