WILLINGNESS TO SERVE – APFA NEGOTIATING TEAM
Last week the APFA Board of Directors passed a resolution interpreting the APFA Constitution, “to require the formation of a new Negotiating Committee to negotiate the CBA between APFA and the New American…” The full text of the resolution will be posted on the APFA website shortly. Today the National Ballot Committee mailed Willingness to Serve (WTS) Notifications for the two elected members of the APFA Negotiating Committee.
History: In January 2010, the makeup of the APFA Negotiating Committee was amended via a constitutional referendum ratified by the membership. The makeup of the team is outlined in the APFA Constitution Article X, Section 5.A.:
Section 5. COMPOSITION OF NEGOTIATING COMMITTEES:
A. The Composition of the Negotiating Committee for a Collective Bargaining Agreement negotiated by the APFA on behalf of Flight Attendants employed by AAL shall be as follows:
(1) Seven (7) members consisting of:
a. The President;
b. Three (3) Domestic Operation representatives, one (1) who shall be elected by the membership
of the Domestic Operation at large, one (1) who shall be appointed by the APFA President, and
one (1) who shall be appointed by the APFA Board of Directors by a two-thirds (2/3) affirmative vote of the Voting Board of Directors; and
c. Three (3) International Operation representatives, one (1) who shall be elected by the membership of the International Operation at large, one (1) who shall be appointed by the APFA President, and one (1) who shall be appointed by the APFA Board of Directors by a two-thirds (2/3) affirmative vote of the Voting Board of Directors.
If you are interested in further serving your Union, the WTS forms are due in the designated Post Office box by 1000 CT on April 25, 2013. The forms will also be available for download on the Elections and Balloting page of APFA.org later this week.
