9.11.14 – (LAA/LUS) 9-11 Memorial

 We Will Never Forget

On this thirteenth anniversary of that horrible Tuesday morning in September, when the first plane – AA Flight 11 – hit the World Trade Center, each of us still struggles to find the words to describe our sense of loss.

For Flight Attendants, we lost our friends, our colleagues, and our job as we know it. It’s difficult to remember what our job was like before 9/11.

One thing’s for sure though – what has always made this job so special for each of us is the people with whom we work. Flight Attendants are an incredibly resourceful and resilient group. The Flight Attendants of American Airlines have endured so much, particularly since 9/11. From Flights 11 and 77, to the loss of Flight 587 in Rockaway, NY, the shoe bomber, the RPA, furloughs and eventually bankruptcy, we are finally at a turning point. Let today be a reminder of those we lost and how far we have come since September 11, 2001.

So to our heroes – AA’s Flight 11 crew: Barbara, Jeffrey, Sara, Karen, Kathleen, Betty, Jean, Dianne, Madeline, John and Thom; to AA Flight 77’s crew: Michele, Jennifer, Kenneth, Renee, Chic and David; and to our colleagues on United 93: Lorraine, Sandra, Wanda, CeeCee, Deborah, Jason and Leroy; and United 175: Robert, Amy, Kathryn, Alfred, Michael, Alicia, Amy, Victor and Michael, may God Bless each one of them. They are forever in our hearts.
