APFA Special Hotline: American Flight Attendants Reach Industry-Leading Tentative Agreement
September 19, 2014
APFA is thrilled to report that the Joint Negotiating Committee (JNC) has reached a Tentative Agreement that leads the industry. Through 150 days of expedited bargaining, it has been the JNC’s goal to secure the highest wages and best work rules of any network carrier and we are proud to report that the goal has been reached. Next week, the APFA leadership will be meeting in Washington, D.C., to review the T/A at a final page-turn. Soon after, the Executive Committee will vote on whether to send the T/A to the membership for ratification.
The JNC is hard at work preparing materials for the membership to review, including full proposed contract language. That language, along with highlights, Q&As and other resources, will be posted to the APFA website as soon as possible. Remember that the only sources for accurate information regarding the T/A are official APFA communications. Watch for APFA Hotlines, JNC Hotlines, FACT Rep Hotlines, updates to the official APFA social media channels, and APFA.org. Additionally, members of the JNC and the APFA leadership will soon begin a series of base visits systemwide during which Flight Attendants will have the opportunity to hear information about the T/A first hand and ask any questions you may have. APFA will also be setting up a call center, staffed with members of the JNC and other union reps, to answer members’ questions. Details will be made available as soon as possible.
Remember that the T/A cannot become a contract without the ratification of the membership. APFA has a 30-day balloting period for contract ratification. Stay tuned to this Hotline for information on balloting as it becomes available.
All of the new American Airlines Flight Attendants have put in a tremendous amount of work to make today’s announcement a reality. The JNC could not have accomplished its ambitious goal without the support of the 24,500 members of the Association of Professional Flight Attendants! Thank you, and we look forward to sharing the details of the T/A very soon.
