A Job Well Done! US Airways Flight 445 – [email protected]
On Wednesday, Immediately after landing in Denver, smoke filled the cabin of US Airways Flight 445, an A321. The four Flight Attendants working the flight successfully evacuated the smoky aircraft using seven of eight slides. Only a few passengers sustained minor injuries – none that required hospitalization. The NTSB is investigating the incident but initial reports indicate that there was not a fire on board.
The successful evacuation is a testament to the professionalism of the crew and a reminder of the critical safety role we fill every single day as professional Flight Attendants.

Primary Vacation Bidding Deadline – [email protected]
Primary Vacation bidding will close on Monday March 9 at 0800CT. Keep in mind, we are bidding for the vacation we accrued in calendar year 2014. There are no changes to our accrual for 2014 or the way in which we will bid for this vacation as a result of the JCBA. Flight Attendants who had 25 or more years of Company Seniority as of December 31, 2014, would have been eligible to accrue up to 28 days for bidding in the upcoming fiscal year (May 2, 2015 to May 1, 2016). You can find accrual information for other seniorities on p. 32 of the December 2013 On Duty Contract Guide.
The only change for the upcoming vacation bid is that the Domestic and International bases will be combined. Therefore, we will be bidding with the combined group of Flight Attendants at cities where there is currently both a Domestic and International base.
You are eligible to split your vacation if you accrued 19 or more days of vacation (prior to the deduction for any PVD usage in 2014). You must have accrued at least 7 days of vacation to be awarded a vacation during the Primary vacation round.Ā Those that have accrued less than 7 days, including Flight Attendants hired in 2014, will be awarded after Secondary vacations have been awarded. However in order to enter a preference for a vacation slot if you accrued less than 7 days, you must bid during the Primary Vacation Bidding Period.
