This past week, the APFA Board of Directors met in Philadelphia for the Annual Convention. Over the course of the meeting, the Board, among other things, approved the annual budget, updated the APFA Policy Manual, and received detailed briefings from the Joint Negotiating Committee and the APFA Department Chairs and Specialists. On Thursday, the Board met for several hours with Scott Kirby, Hector Adler and other members of senior management and the Company’s IT department to discuss the many issues LUS and LAA Flight Attendants have been forced to deal with as a result of the merger, particularly with IT.
Paul Hartshorn (PHL) was elected by the Board to Ad Hoc Place #5 of the Executive Committee
The Board also unanimously passed a Unity Resolution recognizing the critical importance of unity of the APFA membership and solidarity of the Board and the Board’s commitment to achieving the full potential of the merger. The resolution states in part that the “Board stands together in unity and is fully committed to unifying all Flight Attendants working at the new American as APFA members, ensuring that the full potential of the merger is realized, and protecting the interests of the APFA as an independent union solely focused on the Flight Attendants that make up the new American Airlines.”
Weād like to thank the line Flight Attendants who took time to attend the meeting this past week. The official minutes of the Convention will be posted on APFAās web site in accordance with the APFA Policy Manual.
