ISAP Redeye Definition

Beginning in the November bid month, the definition of a Redeye in ISAP will be changing.

Current definition(through October 2015) – any pairing that does not have the same number of Duty days as Calendar days. For example, a 3-day pairing with two duty periods. Below is an example of what is currently considered a Redeye pairing in ISAP. Note that Transoceanic International is included in the Redeye group:

New definition (beginning November, 2015) – any pairing that contains a Duty day that flies over 0100 that is not a Transoceanic International pairing. Below are examples of what will now be classified as a Redeye. Notice that there is a 3-day pairing with 3 duty periods; this pairing works on all 3 day but has a Redeye flight segment somewhere in the pairing. This change aligns ISAP Redeye classification with the Contractual Redeye definition, which is also consistent with a Redeye pairing in PBS:

New Redeye ISAP Definition:

  • Any pairing that contains a flight segment that flies over 0100
  • Must not be a Transoceanic International pairing

Bidding Tips for November ISAP

  • Pay close attention to the number of Duty periods and the number of days a pairing operates to determine if it is the type of pairing you intended
  • Redeye pairings may have one leg that reaches the layover airport at 0130. Do not forget to look at those pairings because they may be very desirable. Don’t miss out on a pairing you might be happy with because you have excluded Redeyes from your search in ISAP

Legal Rest Between Multiple Pairings (MP)

Multiple Pairings must have legal domicile rest plus a 45-minute buffer to be awarded in PBS (for ISAP and ETB transactions, it is legal domicile rest plus a 30-minute buffer). Domicile rest is determined using “Pure Rest,” which is release time from the first pairing to report time of the second pairing.

For example:
TI Pairing #1 Releases at 0530 and TI Pairing #2 Reports at 1930. 1930 – 0530 = 14:00.
Legal Domicile Rest between two TI pairings in the same calendar day is 14:00 plus :45 minutes.
In this example, PBS will not award these two pairings unless the F/A Waives Minimum Domicile Rest, which is for TI to TI 10:00 plus the 45 minute buffer.

PBS “LN” Award Waivers

If PBS has not been able to satisfy your Line properties by Layer 7 and it is forced to go outside your layers, this award is finished in Layer None (LN). When this happens waivers that you have included in any of your layers can be used in LN. For Lineholders, this applies to all layers unless Clear Bid was used, in which case it only applies to the waivers bid AFTER the Clear Bid. For Reserves, if either of the waivers were used in any Reserve bid layer, they can be used for an LN award.
