Retirees With Social Security Overpayments – LAA/LUS Retirees
Have you received a bill from Social Security or Medicare for excess earnings as a result of your VEOP &/or Equity Stock payments?
There is a fix for that. Social Security needs a form from American Airlines letting them know that the VEOP/Equity Stock payments were “Special Wages.” AA is all set up to fill in that form for you, (using the SSA-131 “Report of Special Wages” form.)
All you need to do is to let AA know you need this form for Social Security.
Here is how:
- Send an email requesting the form to [email protected] or fax a request to 480-693-3400.
- Include your name, your employee/badge number, and the approximate date that you retired, and let them know you need an SSA-131 Form.
- American Airlines will fill out a form and send it back to you to turn into Medicare/Social Security.
If you would like to see the form before American sends it back to you, download a copy of the blank SSA-131 form: https://www.socialsecurity.gov/forms/ssa-131.pdf
If you have any questions, please reach out to APFA Retirement Specialist, Patrick Hancock at [email protected].
Date-of-Hire on New Crew Badge – LAA
New Crew IDs are now being distributed at LAA bases. You will notice a date-of-hire on the back of your new crew ID. The date displayed on the ID is an HR personnel record that is not related to any contractual, seniority or travel related policy. The dates in your HI8 (DECS) are the correct dates and none of those dates have been adjusted.
Many IDs have been printed with an incorrect date-of-hire, and the Company is taking necessary steps to resolve the error. Additional information will be available this week regarding a resolution.
LUS Flights at DFW Moving to Terminal C Update – LUS
LUS Flights at DFW will move from Terminal E to Terminal C effective Tuesday, November 10.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to gate configurations at DFW Terminal C, the 1L door on LUS 757 aircraft will typically be used for customer boarding and deplaning. If an LUS flight is directed to a gate and the 2L door can be used for deplaning, the Flight Deck will advise the Flight Attendants upon arrival.
RON flights arriving into DFW on Monday, November 9 will be directed to Terminal C gates.
Most LUS flights will operate from C36, C37 and C39 – but always check flight display monitors to confirm your departure gate.
Transportation pick-up and drop-off point to Flagship University campus, Learning Center and Flight Academy: C24 gate area, lower level. Signage on vehicle will display destination.
Hotel shuttle services have been advised of the move to Terminal C, and will also use the C24 gate area, lower level, as a pick up and drop off points.
The security entry point at C17 is a Known Crewmember checkpoint which operates each day from 0430-2100.
TSA checkpoints in Terminal C are indicated with the following symbol in the map below:
