US Airways Flight 1549: Seven Years Later
On January 15, 2009, Captain Chesley B. “Sully” Sullenberger and First Officer Jeffrey Skiles made an emergency water landing in the Hudson River after multiple bird strikes into both engines. The crew exhibited both professionalism and acts of heroism for successfully landing US Airways Flight 1549 in the Hudson and evacuating a full Airbus A-320 aircraft on that January day.
On this seventh anniversary, we honor the Flight Attendants and Pilots of Flight 1549. Flight Attendants Doreen Welsh, Donna Dent, and Sheila Dail defined the true meaning of a First Responder. Their heroic actions that day continue to bring respect and dignity to our profession.
