- B-757 Crew Rest Curtain
PHL Flight Attendants,
Jumpseat Weight and Balance
As you know, on Friday, September 4th, the Company sent out a communication announcing their intention to not honor the provision extending jumpseat weight and balance protections to the LUS Flight Attendants until Flight Attendant Operational Integration (FOI).
Let us be clear: The provision to extend LUS weight and balance protections until FOI was hard fought, and your leaders had every expectation that the Company would honor their written word not only to the Union, but to the employees of this airline; employees who are directly responsible for the record profits the combined Company is generating.
A Presidential Grievance will be filed, and we will do everything in our power to ensure that Grievance is heard expeditiously.
B-757 Crew Rest Curtain
The PHL Local office has also received reports of the Company dispatching Boeing 757 flights to Europe without a crew rest curtain. The presence of curtains for crew rest is not a “suggestion” or a “guideline” for the Company; it is negotiated contract language in black and white in our Contract. We will be filing a Base Notice of Dispute (NOD) today regarding the lack of crew rest curtains on flights with crew rest, and have brought this issue to the attention of your local management. If you find yourself on a trip that is missing a curtain, be sure to bring it to the attention of your local office as well as your Flight Service Manager and/ or Base Manager.
It is unfortunate that at a time where the Company is raking in record profits, the Company has decided to not be true to their written word. At both LAA and LUS, history has shown that management team after management team has lost touch with their employees, and treated them as liabilities as opposed to assets. Will history repeat itself? We certainly hope not. It is extremely difficult to continue “Going for Great” when your front line employees, who have been ravaged in bankruptcies, court ordered pay cuts, and incredible turmoil for the past fifteen years, don’t feel valued.
The JNC, JSIC, and all of your Local Officers are working with our APFA National Officers, Committee Members, and Regional Representatives to resolve these issues.
In Unity,
