APFA Executive Committee Ratifies Wage Increases and Profit Sharing Plan
The APFA Executive Committee held a Special Teleconference Meeting this afternoon to vote on the wage rate adjustments and profit sharing plan that were announced yesterday by the Company. The Executive Committee unanimously passed a resolution agreeing to both improvements. The pay raises make our rates comparable to those at Delta and far ahead of United/Continental, which is still in negotiations for a joint collective bargaining agreement.
As I prepare to join you again on the line, I want to take a moment to thank you for your support these past four years. As a long-time representative of APFA, it has been the honor of my career to serve as National President these past few months. It was a tumultuous time for our union, but you, the membership, handled the stress and overcame the obstacles with patience and professionalism.
Â
The developments of this past week validate APFA’s position and our strategy: Flight Attendants are an integral part of this company’s success and we will achieve the respect and compensation we deserve by doing our jobs at the highest level possible. Profit sharing and industry leading pay are about more than a paycheck. They are about being recognized for our contribution to American Airlines’ success. By providing a superior product, we proved that we deserve a piece of the pie and higher pay rates.
Â
There is still a lot of work to be done in order to fully implement the JCBA, and complete the merger. While the job is far from complete, I feel I have left the APFA on solid footing and I have complete faith in the incoming administration to continue the work. I look forward to watching Bob and his team build on this progress from 30,000 feet.
